Fast Company announced Mapdwell Solar System among the 53 companies, projects, and products selected as finalists for this year’s Innovation by Design Awards. Mapdwell Solar System was selected from over 1,500 worldwide submissions, alongside a noteworthy list of finalists that include Google, GE, IDEO, NASA, Disney, Nike, Reebok, The New York Times, Quirky, McDonalds, MIT Media Lab, Bloomberg, and Bjarke Ingels Group.

This year’s judging panel, which was once again comprised of the world’s best design minds, selected the finalists from among 1,587 international submissions across ten categories. Honorees include big-name brands like Nike and Google, and design firms like fuseproject and Sagmeister & Walsh. Solar System is one of seven nominees in the Data Visualization category, and was featured on the October 2014 print edition of Fast Company, as one of ten innovations in the article “Design Is Changing How We Live”. Category winners will be announced on October 15th, 2014 in the Award Ceremony at The Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, closing the 2014 edition of the Innovation by Design Conference.
